Pressure system
Local five-day weather forecast would be a better guide than any barometer.

Cold Fronts
It is a known fact that fish will bite just before a cold front. The problem is that
nobody has been smart enough figure out why. Fish can swim up or down in
the depth of water to create their own pressure with little or no side effects.
Conclusion was that it is not the fish that is effected by different pressure.

Plankton Food chain
The bottom of the food chain, zoo plankton, algae and phytoplankton are first
to feel the effects of  falling pressure. Floating near the surface of lakes and
ocean waters along with bits of sediment and debris. This food chain moves
with the fading light of on coming storms. Causing bait fish to be active with
appetite to feed on the plankton and the game fish join the frenzy.   Barometric
readings change about 12 to 24 hours before the arrival of the storm front.
Fishermen can watch the food chain along with barometer readings to achieve
maximum information. Plankton has been proven that they are effected by
barometer readings and thereby effective the food chain. So answer is there is
a connection between  barometer readings and fishing thru the food chain
itself.

High Pressure
When weather clears up and high pressure returns, storm water and debris
lowers water visibility affecting feeding patterns. With more settled weather
patterns and sunshine, fish populations change depth and location. Fishermen
need to adapt and change tackle and tactics to match the conditions.
Switching to differently colored lures and line or fishing at different depths can
increase fishing limits.

Barometric Trends
When barometric readings drop sharply, this means plankton populations is
about to become active. Time your fishing before and after storm fronts.  Use
the right tackle for during these periods. Word of caution be prepared with
escape plan and don't push your luck.
