Fishing at night
can be more fun than fishing during the day.
your bait and reeling in your prize catches of
the evening. In most cases one week and
have time to spend weekends with the family
and not feel guilty about fishing during the
week.

Black portable lights
Black 12 volt portable lights mounted to the
gunnels (sidewall) as opposed to white
lanterns etc. Reason being you will be thrilled
how the black lights light up the waters
without spooking the fish and black lights will
not draw the bugs. There are several types of
black lights on the market specifically made
for night anglers.  Cabala's also has an Opt
tonics brand black light they are selling for
about $50.

Reel lites are meant to be used below the
surface of the water to attract bait fish. (Color

Spool your reels
with Fluorescent Mono filament line
Black light will make the line glow and look
like the size of pencil. Some of the popular
brands are Berkley which makes a great
flame green fire line florescent line that works
well with black light night fishing as well.

The reason this particular line works so well
is that the florescent coloring is not painted
on the line, but rather is chemically mixed into
the actual line during production, which
means the color lasts much longer than other
brands. Black lights will light up the fishing
line for example:  Stern yellow or blue
florescent line of 17 to 20 lb, which will assist
one to detect very light hits. The reason for
the heavier line is one tends to hang up more
during the evening hours.

Night fishing
is the same as fishing during the day as far as
equipment goes.
Crank baits, spinner baits, live bait and soft
plastics for your fishing arsenal. The only
addition one needs is Reel Fishing Lite(s) be
it green, blue, or another color of your
choosing. If you really want to get your limit
of fishing at
night recommend using solar and lunar
tables pertaining to the moon to fish. You will
find that with a Reel Lite(s) and position of the
sun and moon will make it an awesome
experience.

Crappies and walleyes
Most sought after game fish for after-dark
fishing. Other game fish will make your trip
worth wild. Some locales, smelt provide
steady action, for example. Catfish can be
active after the sunset, trout, too, depending
on specific
conditions. Bass, pike or muskies will bite
when the opportunity is there. Bluegills and
perch are rare, but not unheard of.

Pier, Bridge Fishing:
About 1 hour after sunset is when the action
is about to start when fishing for crappie or
other game fish. Bridges are great for crappie
fishing as long as it has at least 25 feet of
water or close to it. Dock or pier fishing is a
lot safer than fishing from a boat.  Wear a life
jacket even on a dock or pier as you could fall
in.

Boats and safety:
Safety should be a major concern when
fishing at night.
1.-Know your lake; do not explore  unfamiliar
waters at night.
2.-Judging distance at night is hard to do.
3.-Make sure your boat is equipped with
proper lights such as navigation lights, let
other people know you are in
the area.
4.-Use precaution when running your engine
at night be on the lookout for obstacles such
as trees stumps and
other boats. Have a kill switch in working
order.
5.-Have a fishing buddy with you at night, that
way each can help one another in case of
emergency.
6.-Life vest should be must, not sitting at the
back of the boat.

David Shands - Pro Staff Reel Lites
"I have used these lights
from the boat at night and
they work great.....What I like
is the low amp draw, you do
not have to worry about
pulling you battery down. I
like these lights because
they are small in size and do
not take up a lot of room, but
still do a great job of bring
the baitfish in which in turn
attracts bigger great lights at
a good price."

Mike Carter Pro Staff Reel Lites
"I have the ones specifically
designed for
bank fishing for
myself and have purchased
the green lights for boat
fishing as gifts to others.
They really have a superior
light, are easy to use and
draw baitfish in extremely
well.  After that happens you
are no longer crappie fishin
but crappie catchin. You will
like Bob's lights too."
