Tips for your Reel Lite!
Fishing Lights
Reel lites added another 5' wire!
Why!

To get the light further from the boat by using a
"
swimming pool noodle, or bobber"
so the
boat will not spook the fish.

For example: most bass fisherman that fish at night using top water lures use
black lures, like a black Jitterbug....the darker colors show up more to a fish
looking up at the surface from below.

For this very reason I have always had a light colored boat with the exception of
the G3 boat that I had...it was charcol....my new boat is platnum color and I have
noticed that I can get in closer to bedding areas without spooking the fish as bad
with the new boat.

I am not a expert by any means and do not claim to be one....
this is just what I have noticed and what I think.
Therefore recommended to Bob to add additonal 5' wiring to the lights.

Reel lights comes with 2 clips for a
bobber or noodle,
the other clip for a chum bag
to speed up the process of attracting
bait fish.

Ideas for bank pier fishing
Float your light
Along the shore line using Reel Lite
bobber clip to float the light 15' or 35'
cord works great!
Pier fishing one can use a battery pack,
or small 12 volt battery and fish off the
banks at night!

Chumming bag
In addition there is a swivel that one can attach a chumming bag.
(The chumming bag is not included) The chumming bag could be
about the size of pack of cigarettes (don’t smoke).  Take some
cotton balls and put them into the chum bag and add some of your
favorite bait scent. This method is intended to speed up the
process of attracting your game fish.  Zoo Plankton are little iddy
bitti things and will take them about 45 minutes to swim to the light.

Another trick
is just add dry dog food or bread crumbs. Either method make note
that the cloth of the chum bag needs to be somewhat porous to
allow the flow of your scent or crumbs to get into the food chain.

Bobber hookup
(Bobber not included)
You may elect to use a bobber, that way one
can throw out the light away from shore or boat and fish into the
light.  Or you may elect to just hang your Reel Liggt  off the side of
the boat, or pier.

Question bank fishing:
Quote; my idea for Reel Lite is a way to secure it to a bouy of
some sort and then be able to pitch it out 10-15ft...thought of
this idea for bank
fishing..............

.....the bouy idea was for a guy that is fishing from the bank
and wants to get the Reel lite out 10 -15 ft from shore. he could
attach it to 2-4 ft of string below a bouy of some sort and then
pith it out or let it drift out. Also while having a string attached
to the bouy so you can pull it back.

Answer:
You don't need a bouy to tie off too.

Get a good size bobber say about 2" to float or a swimmming
pool noodle, tie to the light make sure that the clamp does not
move at the depth set.

Hang on the wire beside the battery clamps with one hand and
the other
hand give the light a toss out in the deep waters.  A 40' cord
would be ideal
setup for this approach.

Bo Patro chomping at the bits to get his Reel Lite in the waters.

He came up this idea that has a lot of merit........
Not only will it work for Reel lites also about every brand on the market........
Making your light very portable to all types of fishing from gigging, kayak,  etc.

When got my Reel lite I decided to modify it a little bit. First I cut the battery
clips off. Then I put a quick connect on the clips and wrapped it in heat shrink.

plug on the cable off the light and wrapped it all up in shrink wrap. In the plug

you can see the two plugs I made then the quick connects I used.

I got a battery pack at West Marine (since I work there and it was easier than
making my own) that has a 12v socket built in.

The last two pictures show the light connected to the 12v plug and plugged in.

If you want info on the battery pack it is a Caframo 12 volt battery pack 12 volt
battery pack. It runs on 8 D cell batteries. And has a built in 12v socket. It also
includes a shoulder strap for easy carrying.

Note: The Caframo retails from $24.00 to $39.00 Do a goggle search.

=================================================================
Well I ran a test on how long it lasts on the battery pack. I used a multimeter to
check the voltage at full charge. It had 13 volts starting. I plugged the light in
and went to work.

8 hours later I get home and the light is still going! And it's just as bright as
when I left. I get out the multimeter again and it reads 11 volts!
Now I'm no math genius but the equates to 1 volt lost every 4 hours. The pack
has a self test light and I pressed it and it read as still being good.

I would say this would easily run 24 hours on the battery pack. I am very
impressed. I highly recommend using this battery pack with all the light.
